Agent Spotlight: Ryan Young, The Young Team, KW, “The Only Thing You Can Control is Your Effort.”
Ryan Young started his career in Real Estate in 2009 (The same time I did!) during a large "shifting market" the Recession. He runs a large team in the Eastern Suburbs of Cleveland, The Young Team with Keller Williams Realty. His team has 13 agents, selling 550 homes, for $175 Million in Volume. WOW! In this interview I talk to Ryan about how he got started at age 26, how he grew his buisness, and how his team was able to continue to grow year after year regardless of the resistance of the changing markets.
In our 15 minute interview, we also go over some other great points, including:
What did you do to Thrive during the difficult shifting markets?
Hired a Coach
Turned to straight Lead Generation (His parents never had to because they always had a good book of business)
Focused on Expired Listings and For Sale By Owners
Focused on First Time Home Buyers because he could connect with them
Investors
Database and Past Clients
Got competitive with Scripting
Spent a lot of time role playing and working on my craft
Had role play group every day with agents around the country at 7am
Conversion is a foundational pillar of his buiness
How do you know we are in a shifting market?
The psychological challenge is that homes are still selling in multiple offers over asking price
The current shift is about the amount of transactions not home prices
Nationally, we went from selling approx. 6 million homes transferring to a projected 4 million homes which is 33% less homes sold, yet the agent count did not change.
That means there will be 33% less opportunities per agent
What advice would you give to agents out there?
Effort over everything
You need to work twice as hard as you did last year to get the same results
The only thing you can control is your effort.
If you aren’t willing to go all in, you will struggle.
Go all in and lean into it.
