The Three Ds of Work Life Balance!

Overwhelm is a topic I’m hearing about from so many agents these days. They are trying to figure out how to service their clients at a high level yet still have time to spend with their families. This struggle is real and can be so stressful. I get it! That’s why we got into this business, isn’t it? So that we have “flexibility”, so that we can “create our own schedule” yet somewhere along the way, that line got blurred and you now have NO flexibility and you feel like your business is running YOU instead of you running your business. This is NOT the way it should be and trust me, there are ways to gain control again of your schedule and live your life by design, not your life by default. I hope I can help you get there.

Please take 20 minutes and listen to my video and try the exercises below to learn how to pair down your workload and figure out what your true dollar per hour rate is to make delegating easier!

The Three D’s of Work Life Balance: Do, Delegate or Dump?

Choose a timeframe and write out all of the tasks that you do every day. Include everything, both business and personal tasks.

It may be a good idea to do this for a full week.  Write EVERYTHING on your list.

Then look at your list and decide,

  1. Are these tasks only I can do?

  2. Are these tasks I can delegate?

  3. Are these tasks I can dump?

Then we will review the list and see which items you can delegate and leverage (like an administrative assistant or pay someone to do it)

Calculating Your True Dollar Per Hour Potential

  1.  What was my Gross Income last year?

  2. How many hours per week do I work on average?

  3. Multiply Hours per week x 50 weeks

  4. Divide Gross Income by your Hourly Rate

Here’s an Example!

  1. $50,000

  2. 40 Hours

  3. 40 Hours x 50 Weeks = 2,000 Hours per year

  4. $50,000 / 2,000 = $25

So my hourly rate is worth $25 per hour

Let’s try another example:

  1. $125,000

  2. 25

  3. 25 x 50 = 1250

  4. $125,000 / 1250 = $100

So My hourly rate is worth $100 per hour
